finals + sispec~

hmm. well.

boys soccer finals today, but we lost 2-1 to meridien. Not bad though, i hope our boys put up a tough fight! i wasn't there because of my sispec visit, but more about that later.

on a lighter note, tennis girls won the finals!! yes!:D

well, the highlight of today is actually the SISPEC aka singapore infantry specialists visit! a few of us from VJC went down to the infantry camp for an excursion of sorts. we got to handle weapons (really cool!), see the dorms, and we got to try army food:)

for me, the weapons part was the highlight! even though we only fired blanks, i think i'd be able to fire an SAR if the situation arises xD well, fire ONLY, not clean, reload, and all that(which are actually really important) xD we learnt more about the army history too!

the compound's really huge, and new, too:D the dorms look really comfortable, i don't think i would mind living in them much. we managed to catch a few trainings in action, and they do train hard and well. the soldiers were real gentlemen too, so that's a real plus! haha.

another part was the food! even though i've heard a lotta comments that army food tastes like crap, i got to try out one of the fieldpack foods, and they're not bad! we even brought a lot home xD i can survive on army issue food for some time, i guess:P

overglamourising the army? maybe. i've always been pro-military, for some reason. maybe it stems from riza hawkeye and quistis trepe, both of whom i admire, but are fantasy xD

still, i'm pretty confident that Singapore is in good hands of defence:)

recently, i've been waking up pretty early in the mornings on weekends, partially coz i've been sleeping earlier, so that's a good thing, i suppose! well.. i'm just happy that this is a long weekend:P

i got the vice-captain position for fencing!:D so thrilled:D hahahaha! thank the Lord:D

yesterday's cell was really excellent too, reminding me of obedience and faithfulness to the Lord, i think i have forgotten about those, left them somewhere in the back of my mind, but thank God for reminding me:D He has placed me in these two positions of leadership to create a change, a wave of revival for the school, and i am going to fulfill this purpose which my Lord has set out for me:)

thank you yx for always praying with me and for me too:)

and mostly, Lord, i need your wisdom and strength to proceed with sharing Your Gospel to my world:)

the match was pretty exciting, even though many people beg to differ, saying girls' soccer is blablabla. but well, because it was VJC, and i'm in it, so i felt that it was so:P and i'm betting that any vj student with a blog will be blogging about our win:P:P

the spirit was really... rippling through every pore of every victorian as we cheered, were stunned, and finally, we went crazy over the girls' soccer team victory over SAJC. i even cried! LOL!

but in the end.. wheeeeeeee!!!!!

a big congrats and thank you goes out to xinyi!!! you rocked:D:D and number 10, the camptain, was really great too:D and to all the players out there who worked really hard for this resounding win!!!!:D:D:D:D

back from sunday exercise:) played a good game of badminton with justin and kevin, and some more basketball afterwards. with the cousins moved in, life has definitely become more interesting:)

well, you could say i'm past the twilight high, even though i'm still uber excited! but well, it's back to turn back to serious matters. there's still a long seven months to go before the movie comes out, so i have much more time for that later hahaha.

i'm rereading twilight xD coz lately i've been reading eclipse more (it's much more exciting, in my opinion), and i hope breaking dawn will be just as good! maybe a birthday present?:P dad got me deathly hallows last year as a surprise gift, and i was glued:P

there's training tmr:D fencing really rules!:D i love my teammates:D maybe i'll post a piccy one of these days, if i get the chance to take one. haha.

TWILIGHT!!!!

okay, i have been trying to skip blogging for awhile xD been getting a bit lazy~

but i can't resist anymore!!!!!!!!

enter twilight, just about the hottest book of the mordern era (at least to me:D)
the movie is coming out on 12/12/2008!! yesterday, it seemed like it wasn't too far away, but i beg to differ, now that i've watched a few trailers as well as cast interviews. *sighs happily*

in a word. it's HOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOTHOT!:D:D:D:D

okay, stephenie meyer really rocks. the book was absolutely fantastic. and now the movie! after watching one of the trailers, i've concluded that the protagonists are really suited for their roles:D i had doubts about them, especially robert pattinson at first, but well, they've more or less been dispelled:D

i can't wait for the movie!!! can't!!!

warggggg i'll be suffering through the midyears and promos in anticipation for this.

well.. speaking of which, it's back to studying geog.. so, later~

ahhh~ well, today i make a firm resolution never to oversleep again. haha. i really don't want to, either! today i have overslept for school for the first and last time! got chastised by the security guard outside school, and he was very kind, i must say. so thank you for giving me a chance, mr. security guard:)

well, onto happier things. yesterday i got my fencing equipment!:D not all of it, most of them, anyway. no epee yet xD that supposed to be the highlight:P but i love the mask!:D it's completely.. shall we say.. sexyblack? am really looking forward to getting the blade next week. from now on, more time will be spent fencing to sharpen my skills!

have been revising consistently too.. not for all subjects, but mostly for geog. am working on the other humanities too.. so i really need to put in more for math! i really hope to do well for my mid-years and such. can't afford to spend two years studying and yet flunking the As, right?

went around reading blogs. many people's lives have changed so much, since secondary school! it's completely "days of our lives". some have gone overseas to study, some have adjusted to their new school life and friends really well, and well, some haven't. i kinda get a little nostalgic when seeing the changes that have occured, don't most people?

this reminds me of what i've been doing for the previous few nights - watching ouran high. it's been awhile since i watched that anime! but everything about it still captivates me:P it may appear to be this frivolous piece of nonsense, but there are many underlying themes (some which are made pretty obvious, actually) of life and relationships. and when you reach the last episode, even though you've watched the anime before, you still get this sense of accomplishment from completing the journey. it's a bittersweet kind of feeling, but beautiful in its own right:) this is the kind of feeling you get when you and your friends have completed the journey, and everyone's starting on a new path without you. but yet.. you have your own path to follow, kinda thing.

hey! haven't been online for awhile now.

not really many updates this week. i'm applying for presidency of the jap club xD

i've been feeling pretty hardworking lately, so i finished my homework on friday afternoon. congratulations to me! LOL! well, except for the finalization of my PI, which i'll do tmr xD

oh and, happy birthday to jessica! (4/4)

cell today! after praise and worship we watched charlie and the chocolate factory. it was coz everyone was rather tired and some of us weren't present, so juliana decided to start next week when everyone was here, since she's preaching a series:) cell at my house next week!

finally saw yx after a long week! it was good catching up again :D well, school's starting next week for him. all the best!:D

one fine, miraculous day!

yesterday is probably my favourite day of this month:D

it started early, when i met the cornerstoners at about 8am + for ONE FINE DAY at west coast park. there were soccer, frisbee and tug-of-war competitions but i didn't take part in any. zhimin, yunxiang, jia min and i just hung out at mcdonalds for a long time and talked. xD we also climbed the pyramid (though zm didn't as she was suffering from leg pain)! haven't climbed it since i was.. um.. sec1? xD that's a LONG time!!

after that it was off to zm's house!! played naruto, grand theft auto and some kh2 on her brother's ps2. her 4-year-old sister is really cute, and a bundle of energy! she was dancing around and 'attacking' yx a lot xP we didn't really do anything major besides playing on the console, but i suppose it's the company that matters a lot, sometimes:P

at about 6pm, yx and i met gabriel at tampines mall, to go to lighthouse evangelism's miracle service. the service was really great, and i really felt the holy spirit moving:) there were many people who were healed of their conditions, it was really such a wonderful, wonderful time. there's nothing that beats being in the presence of the Lord and glorifying Him:D we were praying for gabriel's eczema to be healed! even though it has not disappeared completely, i believe that it will in the very near future. have faith:)

we had supper after the service. it was interesting, talking about God and a lot about angels, 2nd chances and faith. yx had quite a few questions, which were addressed by gabriel xD it was really enlightening, and i learnt quite a few things myself.

all in all, it was another blessed day! i really enjoyed myself, and praise the Lord for yesterdsy:D

today was vjc's full day off!

it was a a blast:P

met brenda, my shepherdess in the morning. we had a really good interacting session:D got to know a lot more about her and she about me. it was really great:D i learnt about her family, poly life, and a lot more in between:)

met with yx next:D we had lunch at pastamania, and then hung out at orchard. it was great seeing him again, and hanging out, laughing, talking nonsense, and etc! xD

did math at mr tan's after that. i completely need to practise more on maclaurin's series!>.<

i'm so sorry, my entry is rather short today. i'm REALLY sleepy zzzzzzzzzzz.

ARTS DAY!

today was absolutely fun!:D

it was ARTS DAY at VJC!!

we had about 2hours of lessons (i can assure you that most of us were pretty impatient for them to end), then it was time for arts day activities to take place. there was a huge array of activities taking place, and we (the students) got to choose from a variety of electives (literature, visual art, dance, drama, etc). i was in salsa xD

anyway, we were first entertained by this multi-talented fire-eater:P it was really brave of him to perform solo, and also he had a good stage presence! i enjoyed the segment, even though it was under the sweltering heat of the singapore sun in the parade square:)

after that, it was salsa time for me! sarah was with me in salsa, and so was cheryl!:D so fun~ haha. i have to admit that what we learned was extremely basic, but it was uber nonetheless. when danced well, it really IS a hot number:P the partner section was cool, we rotated partners and had a whale of a time:P well, this has sparked my interest in salsa! i may wanna take it up some time.

the rest of the day was spent watching beatboxing (which ROCKED), eating turkish ice cream(exceptionally delicious!!!!!) and watching a 987 in rock we trust concert thingy. it was really cool:) arts day is really celebratory!! i love arts day:D

geog makeup later was very interactive. there was only tunn yuan, atiqah and me in the makeup, so we really got to talk to mr najib and mr josef. it was a great lesson. learnt to be careful in specifying scale and stuff like that. important in geog!

well, the day concluded with fencing. there are only 5 J1 girls in fencing, do you believe it! but well, i must say it was really wonderful, the first lesson in VJ fencing. we got to fence with pseudo-swords, and have bouts with each other:) experiential:) am really looking forward to the next one! haha. i really can't wait to practice with my actual equipment when i get them. excited! though i'm playing epee instead of sabre now, i hope to excel at it! and represent the school and win in competition.

that generally sums up my day. it was long, but fun!!! tomorrow's a day off for victorians, as our 2006 batch did really well for their 2007 A level exams. ciao then!:)

13th month

today was really fun:D

well, maybe i should start with the class bbq on march 12th, which i didn't elaborate on yesterday.

i did some crazy trans-island travelling that day! first it was off to bishan from kembangan to meet a seller who was selling me the black magician trilogy for just $20 - and all hardcover xD i've read the 1st book in the past day, and am halfway through the 2nd. So far, it's pretty exciting:) anyway, after bishan, it was to tampines to meet yeewei, joween and sheryl for lunch and some catching up. we had a good time together at tm and cs, looking at the converse fair, popular, and etc :D joween, yeewei and moses went to watch the leap years afterward, which i had already watched with minjie, minhui and cherlyn.

after that, it was from tampines to yio chu kang! to david's house for 09S03L's class bbq. david has a really cosy home:) i had a great time catching up with the rafflesians, and they presented me with this pillow where they wrote personal messages on. it was really sweet:) thank you 3L so much! i'll still miss y'all loads~

i didn't manage to stay till the food was cooked over with 3L, coz i had to join my sec4 class in pasir ris for their class bbq. i arrived at the spot past 8.30, but managed to get good helpings of satay, fishball, and drinks:D it was fantastic, seeing my ol' classmates again, and we clicked together as if no time had passed since we last met together.. over five months ago. it was kinda nostalgic for me, and i really relished in it. it's pretty difficult to describe the sort of feeling you get when you meet up with friends you haven't seen in awhile, and now you do, but nothing has changed:P kinda cool, really:)

fast forward to today!

met benji in school to get far from the madding crowd notes initially, but ended up studying in the library till lunchtime. it was good, coz the library was pretty uninhabited. much quieter than the usual humdrum during school hours:P

lunch was interesting:)

and after lunch, the real craziness began xD

met yunxiang, yiheng and gabriel at parkway. yiheng had just finished his medical checkup and they were bored so we just hung out. went to the arcade, played daytona first. yiheng owned at that! i ended up last and yunxiang 2nd, gabriel didn't play. haha! next up it was ghost squad, yunxiang was leading all the way for that xD well, the arcade's not really my place, perhaps:P ate at pastamania afterward, talking more nonsense. it's been awhile since i laughed this much hahahahahaha.

went to play lan near my house after parkway. i have to admit, my first attempt was not very successful. we played this simple game called pudge? LOL. i can't even remember the name! it's part of the warcraft franchise anyways. i died over 40 times while gabriel and yiheng were on a killing spree hooking me and yunxiang. it was absolutely hilarious. well, i managed to make 11 kills, far from what the two of them made, a combined of about 70+..

sorry yunxiang for dragging you down ><

haha, but hanging out with them was LOADS of fun xD i'll rmb today for awhile~

and happy 13th to yx:D

went to meet my family at orchard after lan.

we had dinner, and mostly walked around ngee ann city till it closed. it was enjoyable family time:)

that's my day today! i totally have to get about seriously studying for monday's math test!

just watched 'the somme - from defeat to victory' on youtube. part of the holiday homework for lit..

the way men were bombarded with propaganda to enlist was interesting. it was sad to watch too.. kinda reminds me of 'dulce et decorum est' by wilfred owen.. the part where they're desperate for some glory..

the documentary talked about a few men, some of whom died in action, some of whom became war heroes..

but i'm wagering all had inherited a darkness in their hearts that can never be gotten rid of. the glint in your eye that reveals what you have seen and done..

war really is a tragedy. the statistics of the dead are audacious.. especially in that battle. but while a million deaths is a statistic, a single death is a tragedy..

destruction that can never be erased because it will leave a scar forever.

this is a stark contrast to the glory portrayed.

the rain has stopped, and i've more or less completed my geog project!:D that's two assignments in a day! well, i'll probably move on to complete econs tonight. i have to do tons of math on thursday - common test on monday!!

this is turning out to be some holiday. it's more of work than anything. i guess this entails the rest of my two years xD

dear daddy God, i'll really need your strength to go through these two years! i guess i'm still getting used to jc:)

speaking of which, people are already starting to get connections. using people to their advantage already! that may not necessarily be a bad thing, after all, one needs connections to climb. hard work can only go so far. not that i'm going to be all cynical. i suppose it's natural.. after all, humans will be humans :P

ahh! will be seeing my RJ and 4G classmates tmr! having two bbqs on the same day, that'll be a LOT of food. and there's still an A14 JTS one on saturday! there's still a holiday element mixed into the work, eh:P

can't wait to see nii-san, dra, zhimin, hweekay, and co.! and the RJ buddies too:D

looking forward to it!

just remembered that i still have a few apple epicentre vouchers to spend. better go pay a visit before they expire~~

i love rainy days:) i think it brings with it a sense of isolation, and a mysterious sort of beauty.

so here i am.. nothing very much has happened.. well i woke up at 3.24am this morning, for some reason. coz i slept at 10.30 yesterday, i suppose? and i finished my critical appreciation of "A Peasant" by 7.30am xD. that's one down, and n more stuff to go. hooray!

i'll continue later, for now i should be completing my geog:)

i was reading the blog posts of a classmate of mine. i felt a certain sense of honesty i've not seen in personal writing i haven't seen in a very long time.

watched 10,000 BC today.

it's a fantastic show!! i'll not give any plot spoilers, but the basic story-line's about this hunter from prehistoric times going in search of his girl to free her from captivity.. and many other things in between.

before i went to watch it, i actually saw many negative reviews about it on movie review forums. i did actually think that it might be a 3rd rate show.

but well! i was blown away! not only did i feel that the plot-line was substantial, the characters were played out in detail. the torment they go through, the courage they display, the acts of sacrifice, betrayal, trust, cowardice..

it showed civilisation.

not only was civilisation present it was, even at the time, highly developed.

cheers to the graphics too!

overall, it's 6/5! probably one of my favourite shows of all time:)
